God transforms us by giving us a new Identity. We are kings and queens of the Most High God. It was once said that He’s given us a crown, and then lets us grow into it. In other words, Jesus has done everything necessary to set you in places of royalty, and then it’s our responsibility to seek him out and become what he’s created us to be.
God wants to redeem body, soul, and spirit. Many of us understand God wants to save our spirits, but few realize God also wants to redeem your soul (mind, will, and emotions) and most of that is our responsibility as God works with us. Your soul will be with you for eternity and makes up your very being. Image going to Heaven with your current character, you might say, wait a minute God, I think I need to correct a few things while I still have some time. When we first get saved we receive the Garments of Salvation but we have to grow into the Robes of Righteousness. There’s a process we go through that brings us into the freedom of our soul. We stop agreeing with darkness and start agreeing with our Lord. The key to victory is to change our thinking for whatever we behold, we become.
The enemy would want to remind us of all the wrong things we did and identity with them. If he can get us to think about the past and the things of the flesh, we will become the things of the flesh. God wants to give us a fresh new start and tells us what our future is. If we think about who God says we are, we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For Example; In Alcohol Anonymous (AA) people are expected to stand up and confess that “I am an Alcoholic”. Now if you keep on saying that you’re an Alcoholic you’ll never get any victory as you’re reminding yourself of your desire for Alcohol. This confession will lead you to drink more. It would be better to say, I am now a child of God, would you like to hear about how God delivered me.
Rom 8:12-16 Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation – but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of Sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father”. The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.
The Lord instructed us to take every thought captive making it obedient to Christ. So when the enemy places a thought in your head and reminds you that you’re a sinner, Quote Romans 8:1 : There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus, throw away the negative thoughts and start praising God for His wonderful plan of salvation. Fill your mind with the beauty of the Lord. Beholding his beauty is the quickest way to change your thought life.
Think of it this way. We enter into the Refiners fire; who’s the refiner, God is. As things heat up the garbage comes to the top. The refiner’s goal is to purify the gold. Many times we don’t even realize what kind of impurities are in there. As the garbage comes to the top, what does the refiner do with the impurities? He scoops them up and throws them away. Does he look at the impurities, no, His focus is on the gold. That’s all he cares about. It’s the same way in our lives. God doesn’t want us looking at the impurities in our lives or concentrate on them, for if we do, we become what we behold. We will end up doing what we’re thinking about. He’s given us a new identity and a new future so we can walk in the newness of life.
So you ask, why am I still in bondage is certain areas? The answer comes in the fact that soul ties have been made in different areas of bondage. I soul tie can be made with another human being or a spirit. We free ourselves from them through an act of our will. We can pray and through an act of our will decide to loose these soul ties and walk in freedom. It goes something like this. God, through an act of my will, I loosen these ties to ____ and command them to return from where they came and never return again. Thank you Jesus, for freeing my soul.
Our Identity shapes our soul, this is why God gives us this new identity. He’s called us Royalty, Princes and Kings of the Most High God. We need to start meditating on what God has spoken over our lives. The image we have of ourselves shapes our very being. So as a man thinketh so he is, Prov 23:7. We are not slaves, we don’t work for god, we are sons. Remember our Father owns the farm and he’s given us everything we need. We are his sons and daughters and our daddy is the King of the Universe. Anything we do for God is a gift to Him, and we do it from a heart of gratitude.
John 3:2 For now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him.
God’s plan is to have his children rule the Earth. How will they do this? By bringing Heaven to Earth. Remember when Jesus taught us how to pray in Mat 6:9-13,
Our Father in Heaven, hollowed be your name
Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
So God is asking us to bring Heaven to Earth, so if it’s not allowed in Heaven it should not be allowed here on Earth. With this change of thinking we change families, cities, and nations. God is asking us to live as Kings of the Earth and join the heavenly army that will change the Earth. Royalty rules so will you join God in the final war against the spiritual powers of darkness trying to control the Earth. We win, not by concentrating on the enemy but changing the people of the Earth bringing them into salvation so the spiritual powers of darkness don’t have anyone to operate through.
Some people say, you’re boasting, where’s your humility. God is not asking us to shrink back in humility so as to become in-effective. What’s brings God more glory, being a King over a bunch of bozo’s or being a King over a confident army of believers willing to take back the Earth and bring down the forces of darkness.
1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
Remember, your image of yourself will control your destiny. If you’re looking for a good book on your identity, pick up “The Supernatural ways of Royalty” by Kris Vallotton. He does a great job of stepping us through the process.
